It had been the privilege of Rev. Dr. She D'Montford to ordain many people into various sects of Paganism.

Why would she do this?

TIME FOR PAGANISM TO BECOME A RECOGNISED DENOMINATION IN AUSTRALIA - AFTER CENTURIES OF PERSECUTION IT IS TIME TO COME OUT OF THE SHADOWS and to be able to receive government assistance rather than opposition.

We have been pushing for many years for Paganism to become a government recognised denomination here in Australia and now we have the opportunity. The Attorney General’s dept came to the party and is willing to recognise us as a denomination, which will give us greater protection and remove our decriminalised status in several states. It will also give us the advantage of having recognised Pagan churches(kirks), recognised ministers of religion (Highpriest/esse, High Druid, Primate, Leader, Head, – whatever your group wants to call the main schlepper) recognised religious marriage celebrants, (as opposed to civil celebrant who are by law prohibited from performing a religious function etc.) It will also open us up to official minority group status, make us eligible for grants and a whole lot of other good stuff. This means Pagan “congregations” (their wording not ours) – who are willing to come under one umbrella, in at lease name only can have a representivie organisation similar in structure to the Uniting Church. Responsible people with in the community, who are already running groups if they are willing to put their differences aside so as to be able to gain the bigger picture are sutable for ordination. Shambhallah, Australia’s longest continually running recognised Pagan Church, has established The Uniting Kirks of Shambhallah (UPKOS) for this purpose. Each group will remain fully autonomous but co-operative for this purpose.  It will mean no extra work for you.  It is just a name on a piece of paper that will allow you to stand up and be counted as a Pagan group. (i.e. coven, kirk, circle, grove, hearth,  - whatever you want to call your group is OK.) We can also have overseas affiliates. The amount of effort you wish to put into this and the direction you want to take this in will be up to each group. I hope it is something we can all co-operate on and just get done. This is something that is really needed by the Aussie Pagan community. There should be no differences to sort out as we realise that everyone is different already.

What are Pagan Clergy?

You know if you have a calling to serve as clergy.  It is not the call of ego or status. People have the mistaken opinion that being made clergy is a great honour that means that others will be serving you. To be willing to be made Pagan clergy is to be willing to serve others. Pagan clergy are the chief cooks and bottle washes and general schleppers of their Kirks These people are stepping forward to take on work, to put in effort to assist other people on their spiritual journey. It is a frustrating job. They will try and get others to go the way that they feel is best for them but is may be like herding cats. This is often a thankless job that will see them become the brunt of attack by ungrateful people they try to assist. Their light may bring up the darkness in others to their own personal detriment. So why would anybody step forward to do such a thankless job? Because they feel they must. Theses applicants have already been serving as clergy for many years – but ordination is a public acknowledge the work that they have already been doing.

By your ordination you have chosen to make a public commitment to assist others in a greater way.  Therefore strive for excellence and hold ethics in high regard.
